Boxes

There has been a lot of talk and confusion about the boxes starting with the addition of the add-on magnetic box. I have figured out a solution with my manufacturer. As of now, I am offering a new pledge level that provides the PVC card version of the game in the magnetic box. This has made the production a bit more interesting but is a better alternative to requiring the add-on box for those who want it. You will see now an additional 2 pledge levels (Sorry the split EU shipping makes it a bit confusing). These new pledge levels are for the Hybrid Box that comes with the plastic cards in the magnetic flap box for $18. In addition, the all-weather pledge is remaining the same with the plastic box and plastic cards. I am still offering the magnetic box as an addon for those who wish to have both.

If you are debating on which box to take you do not need to decide now. We will be using backer kit that will allow you to alter your pledges or add add-ons. As soon as I get photos of the boxes I will share them to help everyone make their choice.

EU pledge levels

Why is there an EU pledge level when I can ship to the EU in the normal Pledges? The answer is as follows. Originally we were not offering EU friendly shipping. All orders were shipped from China. With the amount of backer response from the EU, we found a solution and added EU friendly shipping to the campaign. This is so that members of the EU would not have to pay customs fees if their pledges exceeded their country's price threshold for import fees. We have retained the ship from China option for those who wish to pay less for shipping at the risk of these fees.

Announcing the $70k Stretch Goal

At the $70,000 level, we will be adding a UV coat to the magnetic flap box. This will draw more attention to the logo on the box. With the new pledge level as well as the add-on option more backers will get the upgraded box.

$32,000 Stretch Goal Unlocked

Last night we passed $32k and unlocked divider cards so you can organize and save your game. These square will be used to separate the various cards that come in a game so you can quickly grab what you need. They also have a nice second use that allows you to pause a game in progress by placing dividers before each stored resource. 

Up Next

At the $42,000 we will be adding 8 cards to the deck. The feat tracker/reference card has a quick score chart for solo and co-op modes and a list of all feats so you can keep track of the feats you have earned. 

In addition, we are adding 7 extra cards for the casual competitive mode. These are duplicates of the villager cards so that each player has the same opportunity to recruit available villagers in this mode. As many have asked we are adding numbers to the cards for use in this mode as well.

$58,000 Announced

 
The single deck sleeve will be a flexible plastic wallet style sleeve that can hold the cards you need to play solo. This will be an even more portable way to store your cards on the go. Each backer who is currently receiving a game will receive this sleeve. I am working with our manufacturer to find the best fit for this product. Here is a sample of what I would like it to be. This does not represent the final product.

Boxes

Many backers have requested what the boxes will look like. I should have a final answer early next week. In the meantime, I hate to leave you hanging so here is what I am working with. 

This shows the prototype box I am using which is very similar to the boxes that will be produced. The plastic box it a sample of what has been requested. It is made thicker plastic and nicer than its predecessor. These are samples and subject to change.

$42,000 Stretch Goal Unlocked!

Wow, we hit $42,000 fast. Over 1000% funded with over 2k backers. This is amazing. With this level, we have added more cards to the game allowing for a fully symmetrical casual competitive mode similar to Rahdo's suggestions. We also now have the Feat tracker and score quick reference card. There are some new additions to the casual mode that will be added to the rules soon.

Up Next 

Next, we are going for $58k and the Single deck sleeves. This will be a flexible plastic sleeve similar to the one below.

 This will allow you to take the solo game with you anywhere in a slim case. I am working with the manufacturer to create this sleeve and ensure it is high quality and will withstand regular active use.

More to Come

We are by no mean done but as you may have heard in previous updates I am waiting to hear back from my manufacturer on a growing list of points including the next 2 stretch goals. Though I would rather be playing Palm Island, for now, we are playing the waiting game. They are still recovering from backlogged work over the Chinese New Year break and should have answers soon. I will keep you updated.

Spreading the Word

I am astounded by the reach of this project and that is largely due to backers who have shared the project or promoted it by other means. Let me, first of all, say thank you. We are still on the BGG hotness list and many photos have been added and many have made it to the front page of BGG. We are showing up very high on the kickstarter popular list while browsing games. FUNDED! Now to stretch goals!

Thank you so much to all you wonderful backers. I am so stoked that we funded so quickly. 2 hours and 15 minutes is a Portal Dragon record! (I think I may need to stop shouting... NAH!)

As backers are still rolling in we are heading nicely towards our stretch goals. There is a lot on the way that will add a bunch of new content to the game so please share the campaign.

Stretch Goal #1 Unlocked

We have now upgraded the basic version of the game to have better cards. This is the only stretch goal that applies to just one of the pledge levels. We have much more to come.

Speaking of more stretch goals our next one at $8,000 adds more cards to the game bringing 2 more villagers to play with in both competitive and solo modes. 

New Stretch Goal

We have added a new stretch goal at the level of $10,000. With this stretch goal, we will add 2 more Feats to the game. This will expand the solo achievement giving even more goals and abilities for solo mode.
