Can I sleeve the cards? Will they fit in the box?

The cards are 63 x 88mm the box is 73 x 98 x 30mm with 1.5mm greyboard. This allows for ~3.5mm on each side. So they will fit with the right sleeves but they may be too tall. The all-weather version is intended to help with the need for sleeves. As many of our playtesters can attest, the mechanics of this game can make sleeves frustrating. They can be too slippery and cause cards to fall out of position. Again this is where the plastic card version addresses the issue of wear while supporting the physical mechanics of the game. We are working with our manufacturer to give a nice balance for the box with sleeves and without.

How are the plastic cards to play with?

Some plastic cards are slippery. This was a concern when considering offering these cards for this game. Cards that move easily without being too slippery are a must for Palm Island. The plastic cards we have chosen have a slight texture to them that will help keep them in place. What do the magnetic box and plastic boxes look like?

Right now we are still waiting for information to come back from our manufacturer after Chinese New Year. I will be posting this info as soon as I have it. The magnetic flap box will be much like the one seen in this video: https://www.facebook.com/theportaldragon/videos/1769116826718042/ The plastic box is not decided as I mentioned we are waiting for the manufacturer.

Why should I use the EU friendly pledge?

The non-EU Friendly pledge ships from China. In some EU countries, the amount paid for the game or games can cause VAT or customs fees. If you would like to avoid these by using the EU friendly pledge the shipping costs a bit more. If you feel confident that your pledge is below the import threshold, for your country, by all means, use the cheaper one. But we cannot give information of what the countries will do as far as fees for the shipments from China and backers will be responsible for any fees.

Will translations be available for the rules?

Yes. We currently are working on Spanish, French, German, Hungarian, Dutch, Greek, Japanese and Chinese translations that will be available for download. I spoke to a professor at the Klingon Language Institute and he is going to see if there are any volunteers willing to work on it but otherwise is it too expensive.

All-weather? hybrid? basic? Which game should I get?

This comes down to personal preference. The paper cards are thicker but the plastic cards can get wet and resist scratching better. The plastic box will not be damaged by water but many like the upgraded cardboard box with the magnetic flap. Which is best is depends on your situation.

Basic - Paper Cards, Cardboard Box All- Weather - Plastic Cards, Plastic Box Hybrid - Plastic Cards, Cardboard Box

Can I play it on a Plane?

You could play it on a plane, on a bus or on a train. You could play it where you’re able, you don’t even need a table. You could play it with your friends or by yourself when the party ends. You could play it on the can, in my bed or in the van. You could play it when you’re bored, regardless of what you just scored. You could play it at the fair or sitting in your easy chair. You could play it on the sand, see it fits right inside your hand. But do not play it when you’re driving, unless you plan on never arriving.

Do preorders include stretch goals from Kickstarter?

All stretch goals will be included in preorder copies of the game except for the Deck Sleeve. If preorder backers would like to receive the Deck Sleeve, it will have to be selected individually in the order.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
