Where we stand with manufacturing.

This came much later then I would have hoped. I am sorry for the delay. 

I have spent the last week and a half in limbo with hopes of more information to share. It has been too long though and I wanted to give you all an update.  My original plan was to begin printing over a month ago. All the files are ready and waiting. As it turns out there has been a change in personnel and in short, I have a new account manager who has cleaning up a bit of the mess that was created. Since the switch communication has increased a great deal and we are moving forward. They have told me they can hit the target date to complete manufacturing in mid-June... We will see. This does move back the original schedule. But, if they can hit that date the expedited shipping would make it possible for some backers to get their games in late June. 

With all the disappointment aside this will still be a relatively quick fulfillment and I am excited for everyone to get their copies of my game. There have already been a bunch of reviews coming in off the print and play on BGG. Thank you to all those who have submitted for their feedback. There have also been a couple playthrough videos posted which have been awesome to see. Of course, I always find myself talking to the screen reminding the recording of rules or spouting off what I might have done differently. This has been one of the most fun things about this game for me. Everyone plays a bit different and that is perfectly fine. I have had many discussions with some of Palm Island's longtime playtesters about what we feel are fundamental or required choices. Though we play with different priorities, in the end, we score about the same amount of points.

BackerKit

As you may have seen BackerKit surveys have been locked down so you can no longer add to your pledge and most cards have been charged. You may still update your addresses and I will leave this open until we have a more solid ship date. As stated above we are looking at a late June shipment.

BackerKit End Date

Not too much is going on here. I am working with our shippers to make sure everything is ready on their end while working out some final details with the manufacturer. 

BackerKit

We have 291 backers who have not completed their BackerKit survey. I have extended the deadline to April 18th. This gives less than a week to make any changes to your pledge. On the 18th we will lock and process all orders to finalize numbers. You will still be able to update your address until the end of the month. Please complete these as soon as possible by visiting https://palmisland.backerkit.com/, entering your email address and confirming your survey details.

BackerKit Live and Plastic Boxes!

Here are photos of the plastic boxes we will be getting. I have upgraded it to a full waterproof box that clamps shut and is perfect travel with you to the beach or other unpredictable locales. 

I wanted to have this box upgrade as a stretch goal but with the CNY delays, it took a too long to nail down right solution. Either way, I am thrilled that it is now part of the all-weather pledge.

BackerKit is Prepped and Ready

The BackerKit invites are being sent now. Please allow a few hours for all to be sent to everyone. With the BackerKit system, you will be able to manage your pledge. In BackerKit you will start with your current pledge and the amount paid in Kickstarter as a credit to apply towards keeping your pledge, changing it to a different level or selecting add-ons.  If you have any trouble the BackerKit support team is awesome or I would be happy to help as well.

I have also updated the Print and Play files correcting the errors found in the last version and added a bleed. Thank you to all of you for having a look at those. Once your payment is confirmed you will get access to the latest print and play files. Let me know if you catch any more errors and I will add them to the corrections document which you can find here: PnP Corrections. 

Rule Book Update

I have merged in all of the proofreading changes and assembled it in booklet form as it will appear in the printed copies. Please have a look and let me know if you see any errors. Updated Rule Book.

Thank you all for your patience while the boxes got sorted. Next, I am finalizing the quote so we can get physical samples and get this thing rolling. As always if you have any issues, questions, or comments please let me know.

Production Update 1 - Backerkit Status

This week I got the quote back from the manufacturer. However, I was not satisfied with the quality of the plastic box. We have been working on this issue and are now waiting for a new quote and the possibility of a plastic box upgrade. More info on that will hopefully be coming soon. They told me I should have the quote by the end of the week. We will see...

Secondly, we have a number of backers who have payment errors with their pledges. Pledge errors have very obvious alerts in your Kickstarter account. You would have also received emails from both Kickstarter and myself. If this is you and you require assistance please let me know.

Due to these issues, I have decided to delay the launch of Backerkit. However, Backerkit is currently accepting pre-orders. 

Art Update

I have finished the art for the $86k stretch goal. This causes the art to change as these 2 buildings are upgraded. Have a look.

Print and Play

I am currently merging in the remainder of the changes as well as some updated artwork to the card files. Once this is complete I will be releasing an early version of the print and play. This will also double as a final review before print. I expect to have this finished before Monday and will post backers only update with instructions on how to download them.
